Do you take advantage of all your town has to offer? Summer is such a FUN time and businesses know that the kids have a few months off from school. In turn, we usually luck out with FUN freebies all around town. Music in the park, movies in the park, live entertainment at your favorite restaurants and even malls!
Summer is a great time to experience the places that you don’t get the chance to while the kids are in school…it’s time to have FUN!
For example, Safety Harbor has an FREE event the 3rd Friday of every month (TOMORROW) – there is an art festival, FUN music, vendors for food and usually FUN freebies for the kids. I have been to this one several times and it’s one of our family favorites My mom usually visits in August and sometimes she even tries to plan her ticket around this one! My local aquarium (Florida Aquarium) even has 50% admissions when you visit after 5:00 pm.
My brother lives in Howell, MI and they have FREE movies in the park twice a month. My mom lives in New Baltimore, MI and they have FREE movies in the park once a month. One of my local malls (Wiregrass Mall in Wesley Chapel) has a Wednesday activity for the kids, Car & Truck shows, Bike Nights, and so much more! To find other events in your area go to your local Chamber of Commerce’s website and look at the local calendar of events. You will be surprised at what you will find
Some of my favorites places to look are: Chamber of Commerces, Patch.com (for example: landolakes.patch.com is my local Patch site), and Tampa Bay Parenting. You can also visit your local Township office or AAA location for discounts to attractions.
Now, remember one of the biggest expenses that are incurred while we are “out and about” are eating expenses. So, if you are going to eat out – try to plan on eating out for lunch. Lunch menus are always cheaper than dinner menus.
Check out Restaurant.com before you leave the house – this is an easy way to save a bundle!
Pack snacks – you and the kids! I always have a Fiber One or Kashi Bar in my truck for me and a few goodies in my purse for the kiddos.
Most importantly…HAVE FUN!
